Security surveillance equipment—especially PTZ cameras—experiences continuous bending, pulling, and tugging on their internal cable harnesses during operation, which is one of the primary causes of failures. Meanwhile, electromagnetic interference (EMI) is a common issue that affects video image quality. It can be caused by electromagnetic induction between the conductors in ribbon cables or by strong external electrical interference disrupting weak electrical signals, leading to blurry images, snowing, or speckling.

To address failure issues caused by dynamic bending, you can opt for an FPC/FFC connector with a front-latching design. This design ensures stable contact between the cable and the connector. At the same time, it’s important to use highly flexible FFC cables that can withstand more than 100,000 cycles of dynamic bending, enabling them to accommodate the wide-angle rotation of the gimbal.

In terms of combating electromagnetic interference, circuit design should take care to keep power lines (high-voltage) and signal lines (low-voltage) physically separated, thereby reducing transmission interference. Using FFC cables with thicker dielectric films can increase the impedance value, effectively minimizing signal interference between cables. Additionally, subjecting FFC cables to EMI processing—such as applying shielded copper foil—can help disperse interfering electrons evenly, mitigating interference and thus producing clearer surveillance images.
